Summary

These Liberty Ships fit all three categories of Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History. The Liberty Ships had a revolutionary design, were a quick reaction to the problem, and created a shipbuilding reform. These ships can be built in about 6 weeks, but if needed can be completed in under 5 days.           "They certainly did help win the war. Without the flood of new Liberty Ships, German submarines might have succeeded in preventing the United States from supplying our allies in Great Britain and Russia. Germany would then have won the war in Europe. "Dr. Arthur Donovan           I believe these ships won World War II for the Allied troops. They brought cargo, ammunition, and food to our troops and friends in need. They were the work horses, the soul, of this war. Even though Roosevelt called them the 'ugly ducklings' they were a quick reaction to a pressing problem.
